A countertop is a work surface, visual field and installation project at once. A good comparison looks past a small sample to the whole slab, edge, sink cutout and daily cleanup.
Questions to compare every surface
- How does it respond to heat, acidic spills, oils and staining?
- What maintenance does it require, and will you actually do it?
- Where will seams fall in your layout?
- How will the edge profile, backsplash and sink transition be finished?
- What does the cabinet base need to support the weight?

Look at a full sample
Small chips conceal veining direction, repeated patterns and the visual impact of seams. Before committing, view a larger sample under your kitchen’s light and place it alongside cabinet doors, flooring and backsplash material.
